- Who are we?
- Al-Ma’rifah Foundation is an Islamic Educational Organisation based in Manchester, UK. It was set up in response to the growing need of British Muslims who wish to deepen their knowledge on the traditional islamic sciences.
Our primary focus is the teaching of orthodox Islam in an open and contemporary setting, whilst abiding by the required shar’i principles. Though we are a Sunni-based organisation, we are not affiliated to any group or sect which allows for people of all backgrounds to attend and benefit from divine knowledge bestowed upon our Ummah from the noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
- How Does it Work?
- Class time
Currently, Al-Marifah Foundation conduct evening courses from 7.00pm – 9.15pm once every week. This means each student will attend 2 different courses (1 hour each) with a 20 minute break in between for prayer/coffee.
We are currently promoting an introductory 8 week programme for only £30.
Method of teaching
The method of teaching is via Powerpoint presentation along with the provision of a be-spoke course booklet outlining the text being studied, some accompanying comments and space for your own notes (Note: The course booklet will not be available for the 8 week Programme, though handouts will be supplied).
Sessions will begin with a brief reminder to soften the heart, before delving into the course text comprising of slide presentations, discussions and Q&A’s.
The teaching medium will be in English, however a disciplined effort will be made by the tutor to use arabic terminology where possible, especially when quoting Qur’an or hadith. Some texts may be based on Arabic sources but the primary medium will be in English. Arabic is not a pre-requisite for any course, unless otherwise stated.
