I remember watching a documentary a few years ago reporting that some scientists estimated that the observable universe is approximately *80-90 billion* light years wide.
To truly appreciate this figure – one light year is the time it takes for light to travel for one full year (a distance of 5.8 trillion miles!).
To put this into perspective, it takes just ‘8 minutes’ for light from the sun to reach us here in Earth.
Therefore, imagine just letting light run it’s course for 80 billion years (in comparison to that eight minutes) and you realise how colossal this universe is in the scheme of things.
Oh, and BTW, this is just the *observable* universe which is captured by current technology. Allah (swt) knows best the actual size of his creation…
“And if you asked them, ‘Who created the heavens and earth?’ they would surely say, ‘Allah’. Say, “All praise is due to Allah” – but most of them do not know.”
