As we enter the final moments of Ramadan, a reminder to myself first and foremost to pray that Allah *accepts* our deeds.
Ibn Rajab (ra) mentions in his Laṭā’if’l-Ma’ārif that our pious predecessors would exert themselves to perfect their deeds but thereafter would be concerned about them being accepted.
Ali (ra) said; ‘Be more concerned about the acceptance of your deeds, than the actual act itself. Have you not heard the [saying] of Allah;
“Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]. (5:27)’
In no way should we become despondent (and that’s not the aim of this post), but it’s just to help us reflect and perfect the ending to our Ramadan. In these last hours, we beseech Allah (swt);
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.” (2:127)
