Mundane Mornings, Meaningful Rewards

Anyone with kids knows that mornings are spent making breakfast and taking them to and from school.
With younger children, you’re literally feeding them spoon by spoon!
It feels mundane. It feels you could be doing something better. Memorising Qur’an, doing some exercise or working on a project.
However, everything we do for our children and families will be rewarded accordingly iA.
The Prophet (saws) said;
‘You will not spend on your family anything, seeking the face of Allah, except that you will be rewarded. Even a morsel of food you put into your wife’s mouth’ (Al-Bukhari).
Scholars reference this hadith and others ‘The best dinar which a man can spend is a dinar which he spends on his children…’ (Muslim) and state that the *best* form of Sadaqah is the spending on one’s family.
Why? Because you are dealing with your closest family members. They are reliant upon you and they have rights upon you to be looked after. All things which are mandatory.
So next time you’re cooking up a full English breakfast, step back, recalibrate your intention seeking Allah’s pleasure and enjoy the moment.?
