I believe there are four types of people in relation to this current disaster in Palestine:
1) Those who are staunch supporters of Israel’s actions, including justifying the intensity of the current assault taking place.
These are Israeli/UK officials and people like Ben Shapiro amongst many others.
2) Those who support extremist entities who are willing to intentionally target innocent women and children. This is the ISIS/Khawarij crowd.
I don’t include the Palestinian resistance here as considerable disinformation is being used which we absolutely need to be careful of.
3) Those who understand an oppression has been taking place for decades and supports its resistance.
They know the history and context, but also value the life of the innocent.
4) Those who are neutral. They are not taking a stance either way.
Groups one and two – we can’t convince these people, except that we hope God guides them away from such extremism.
Group three – This is the right side of history.
Group four – I can excuse someone for a certain amount of time due to ignorance. But if one persists in this ignorance, then their silence is complicity. The fence is not an option.
It is said:
“Too often we idolize a ‘middle’ stance of being more rational, more fair, more loving. We wear it as its own kind of moral superiority.
But virtue is not synonymous with neutrality. Integrity demands a choice”.
